Day 100 - Self Isolation
Here we go, Day 100. I was intimidated as this week approached, worried I’d have to really make some magic to prove this entire 100 day exercise actually taught me something. But then, Instead of stressing about it, I decided to use this week as an opportunity to reflect and create a series of sketches inspired by my home, where I’ve largely been self-isolating over the last 8 months. That way, regardless of how these final designs turned out, it would still be a meaningful collection.
Self-isolating has been really fucking hard, but I’m truly so lucky. In my home I’m surrounded by so many beautiful things - artwork, photographs, souvenirs, gifts, mementos, plants, books and music. For today, I took photos of 36 of those things and turned them into these smudgey creations. I hope you like them.
I’m so so fortunate for the opportunity this challenge presented to learn a new skill, express myself creatively and shift my energy into something beyond just surviving each day. I’m also so thankful for the positive feedback and love I’ve received from so many people during these 100 days, you’ve kept me going in this challenge and in this lockdown. Finally, I’m forever indebted to my mentors Adam Morse and John Maeda for their endless encouragement. One of my biggest takeaways from this challenge is the kindness and care they both showed me. Make time pals, and be kind. It really matters.
I’m not sure where I go from here, but I know this isn’t the end of my generative art journey. Thanks for following along so far.
