Gunta - Series 1
These pieces are Inspired by the work of Bauhaus textile artist Gunta Stölzl (1897-1983) who played a fundamental role in the development of the school's weaving workshop. Gunta was one of the earliest Bauhaus members and one of the school’s only female directors. She was known for her complex patchwork patterns, composed of undulating lines and kaleidoscopic mosaics of coloured squares. Gunta was forced out of her role as leader of the weaving workshop by student anti-Semitism in 1931 .
